I try to leave out the parts that people skip. ~ Elmore Leonard

Shannon Hoon

Some might know that I’m a big fan of the original Blind Melon band which featured the vocals of the late Shannon Hoon.

While the name Blind Melon is not in everyone’s repertoire, I would assume everyone who grew up with MTV remembers this video of “No Rain” featuring the infamous “Bee Girl.”

Sadly, the life and career of singer Shannon Hoon was cut short when he died from a drug overdose in 1995.

So, as a long-time fan, I was overjoyed to recently find eight unreleased acoustic recordings posted online.  Fortunately, someone in California was thoughtful enough to send Shannon’s Mom, Nel, a bunch of CD’s with Blind Melon music and she decided to share one of those CD’s with the rest of us.

After thinking about it for days, I have concluded that Shannon would have wanted me to give this as a Christmas present to you and you and you and you and you … so Merry Christmas! ~ Nel Hoon

Check out Shannon’s MySpace Music Page where you can have a listen.  It’s just eight more reasons to love the music of Shannon Hoon.
